Delay after delay forced students and staff to settle for taco trucks, vending machines, or a long hike to any dining services from lower campus locations like the engineering complex, social sciences/public administration building, health and human services complex, and others.

Junior engineering major Andrew Sampson described his experiences in the fall 2008 semester as stressful. "My classes were too close together time wise to be able to go all the way up to the student union. I had to get snacks out of the vending machine because I didn't want to eat out of the roach coaches they were parking outside."
The campus outpost convenience store is stocked with pre-made meals, soups, snacks, office supplies, and the latest Beach gear, while the Outpost Grill gives customers hot breakfast, lunch and dinner options.
